There’s only so much suspense a girl can take so I booked a night at the opera in order not to be tempted to watch the “Dancing with the Stars” finale live. I knew the stress would be too much too bear. I may have missed the instant cha-cha (live, that is, because I checked it out as soon as it was up on Hulu), but at least my nails are still largely intact.
I pretty much agree with James Jorden’s review of the Met’s “Cosi Fan Tutte,” though I’d be more lenient than he was towards Danielle De Niese’s Despina. I also loved loved loved mezzo Isabel Leonard as Dorabella. She was such an engaging, vivacious actress, it was hard to take your eyes away from her whenever she was on stage. Broadway would be lucky to have Leonard — a local who went to LaGuardia high school and Juilliard — along with barihunk Nathan Gunn (as recently suggested by Time Out New York’s David Cote).
