Over the past few years, Taylor Mac has emerged as one of the most exciting writers and performers in New York — his five-hour-long musical extravaganza, “The Lily’s Revenge,” was among the best shows of 2009. The thing I particularly love about him is his genuine sweetness and generosity. Mac doesn’t indulge in sarcasm or a fashionably blasé attitude, and wins his audiences over with a wink, a smile and a whole lot of heart.

Now, he’s retiring his breakthrough show “The Be(A)st of Taylor Mac” from his repertoire — but is making a live recording available for download. You can purchase the likes of as “The Palace of the End,” “The Revolution Won’t Be Masculinized” and “Fear Itself” here.
