After more than 35 years together, The Goo Goo Dolls refuse to phone it in.
At a recent show in the United Kingdom, lead singer John Rzeznik brought a talented fan onstage to help the band sing their seminal classic “Iris.”
It was an emotional moment and a perfect reminder that the band puts on a one-of-a-kind show where they connect with the crowd every single night.
And starting July 24, they’re bringing that magic back to North America.
For the next two months, the Buffalo-based quartet will take their ‘Big Night Out Tour’ featuring special guests O.A.R. and Fitz and The Tantrums all over the U.S. and Canada.
That includes gigs at Long Island, NY’s Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 5, Bethel, NY’s Bethel Woods Center For The Arts on Aug. 6, Saratoga Springs, NY’s Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Aug. 8, Atlantic City, NJ’s Borgata Casino and Event Center on Aug. 11, Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center on Aug. 12 and Syracuse, NY’s St. Josephs Heath Amphitheater on Aug. 16.
Better yet, tickets are surprisingly affordable to catch the ’90s alt-rockers IRL.

Goo Goo Dolls special guests
On select dates, the GGDs will be joined by fairly big name acts in their own right.
O.A.R., aka Of A Revolution, has been touring their brand of indie heartland rock since the late ’90s. If you’re not familiar with their sound, we recommend starting with their mega hit “Shattered (Turn The Car Around).”
Fitz and the Tantrums are most known for their ultra-catchy smash singles “Out Of My League” and “HandClap.” We guarantee you’ve heard them. In any event, digging deeper into their expansive catalog will uncover some true pop gems. Personally, we’re partial to the very fun “MoneyGrabber.”
Goo Goo Dolls new music
The Goo Goo Dolls really haven’t lost a step.
In 2022, they dropped their 13th studio album “Chaos In Bloom” and by our estimation, it’s on par with their classic “Dizzying Up The Girl.”
Anthemic lead single “Yeah, I Like You” opens most shows on the band’s current tour and sets the tone for the breezy, upbeat record.
For our money, the second track “War” is where the band peaks though. Soaring yet introspective, melancholy and uplifting, it’s everything rock and roll should be.
“Superstar,” the tenth and final track, closes the album on a triumphant note.

Original members John Rzeznik and Robby Takac are still going strong 37 years after forming in Buffalo, NY way back in 1986.
Back then, their sound was quite different — fast, heavy and decidedly punk.
These days, they play their brand of pop-rock with guitarist Brad Fernquist, drummer Craig Macintyre and keyboardist Jim McGorman.
