Broadway is more crowded than ever this winter with buzzy hit musicals like “A Strange Loop” and “& Juliet” running eight times a week as well as powerhouse mainstays like “Hamilton” and “The Book of Mormon” that don’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
However, if you’re looking for something off the beaten path, you ought to check out the new “Kimberly Akimbo” starring Tony Award winner Victoria Clark at the Booth Theatre.
The musical, which opened on Nov. 10, tells the story of a 16-year-old Jersey girl in 1999 who happens to look 72 due to a rare aging condition. Somehow, that just might be the least of her problems.
However, audiences won’t have nearly as many issues as the titular character does.
“This odd duck is undeniably likable,” wrote the New York Post’s critic Johnny Oleksinski. He continued, “Kimberly’ the musical and the character have a strong underdog appeal and a warmth that keeps the audience firmly on its side.”
And while the show maintains it’s under-the-radar status, theatergoers can swoop in and snag tickets for just $71 before fees on Vivid Seats.
Now, here’s everything you need to know if you want to see “Kimberly Akimbo” IRL ASAP.
“Kimberly Akimbo” 2022-23 schedule
“Akimbo’s” calendar is a bit, ahem, akimbo, this December.
Which day of the week the show goes dark over the holiday season is anyone’s guess.
Once the show settles into a groove in January, though, things become a bit more normal when it adopts your standard Tuesday through Sunday cadence.
Matinees take place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

“Kimberly Akimbo” cast
Although there are no true household names in “Akimbo’s” ensemble, you may just catch the biggest stars of tomorrow at a show.
Victoria Clark (Kimberly Akimbo) got her start on Broadway at the Booth Theatre, understudying in the original production of “Sunday In The Park With George.” Since then, she’s won two Tony Awards for “The Light In The Piazza” and “Sister Act” and appeared in both “Pose” and “The Blacklist.”
Justin Cooley (Seth), a Kansas City native, is making his Broadway debut in “Kimberly Akimbo.” Prior to his star turn, he received Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Antonyo nominations, plus a Theatre World Award and Clive Barnes Award for his work as Seth in the previous season’s Off-Broadway production.
Steven Boyer (Buddy) might look familiar. The Tony nominee has shown face in TV shows “WeCrashed,” “Chicago Fire,” and “High Maintenance” as well as movies” Hustlers,”
Bridge of Spies” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Still not impressed? Boyer also plays lead guitar in the rock band The US Open.
Alli Mauzey (Patti) recently played Pattie in the Atlantic Theater Company production of “Kimberly Akimbo.” She’s been active on Broadway for quite some time, though. You may recognize her from her work in “Hello, Dolly!” as Ernestina or “Wicked” as Glinda. Or maybe her roles in “Crybaby” or “Hairspray.” Mauzey gets around.
Bonnie Milligan (Debra) is a bona fide TV star as evidenced by an IMDb littered with credits, including “Search Party,” “Escape at Dannemora,” “Chicago Fire,” and more. She’s equally accomplished onstage, though, too. Check her resume, and you’ll find she won the Lucille Lortel Award and was nominated for a Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League award for her performance in “Kimberly Akimbo.”
For those hoping to match all faces in the ensemble to names, make sure to give the complete “Kimberly Akimbo” cast list the once over.
