INDIANA JONES… THAT’S MY BIG ESCAPE
Who are your heroes?
The thousands of children in our society that deal with life-threatening illnesses everyday and go on with a smile on their faces. I’m the president of the Rainbow Connection in Michigan that raises money for kids with life-threatening illnesses.
Is there a book or movie that has changed your life?
I’ve always been a big fan of the “Indiana Jones” movies. They’ve enabled me to escape and live vicariously through that character. You know, professor by day – archaeologist by night.
What was your worst day ever?
The day that I had to admit my dad into a psychiatric ward because of his Alzheimer’s. It was 4½ years ago, and now he’s got Alzheimer’s full-blown. Tough stuff. The look on his face was like, “Why are you leaving me here?”
What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this?
I’ve always wanted to be a fireman. They’re forced to think on their feet and help other people. I always thought that was really cool.
The former “Survivor 2” star/gourmet chef, hosts “Tasty Adventure Week” starting today on The Food Network.
