’48 Hours” is literally drop ping its anchor when it returns this fall.
The CBS newsmagazine will no longer be anchored by Lesley Stahl, who still could return as a contributor. In fact, the show, renamed “48 Hours: Mysteries,” won’t have any anchors.
“We’re trying to get away from that,” says executive producer Susan Zirinsky. “We don’t want to look like everyone else.
“We want you to feel like you’re in a ‘news movie,’ ” Zirinsky said. “We’re still going to have narrative and reporters – the reporters are critical – but we’re a show taking our viewers on an experiential journey.”
