‘60 Minutes” is disguising the identity of a retired Navy SEAL who wrote a book about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden — even though his identity has been revealed by other news organizations.

CBS News boss Jeff Fager said yesterday he’d make the same decision to withhold the identity even if the network hadn’t landed an exclusive interview with the author, who participated in the May 2011 raid in Pakistan.

He said the show was doing it to protect “an American hero.”

The interview will be on “60 Minutes” on Sept. 9 and was previewed on the “CBS Evening News” earlier this week.

News organizations including Fox News Channel, The AP and CNN have identified the author of “No Easy Day,” which will be published next week.

The former SEAL Team 6 member uses the pseudonym Mark Owen on the cover of the book and in the interview.

But his voice and looks were concealed in the “60 Minutes” appearance, networks officials say.
