IF the numbers are any indication, TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8” has returned to its origins as a niche cable series.

Monday’s “J&K” episode averaged only 3.5 million viewers, down from nearly 4 million viewers the week before and far from the series all-time-high of 10.6 million viewers in June (when Jon and Kate Gosselin announced their separation).

“J&K” also took a hit in its target demo of females 18-34 and in females 18-49, according to Nielsen.
