ABC is not messing with success with the cast for the new season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

Announced yesterday, the stars in this year’s edition fall neatly into categories that seem so old they could have been handed by Moses from Mt. Sinai. But there were some surprises — including the announcement that Republican heavyweight Tom DeLay was going to dance somewhere else besides on the campaign trail.

DeLay even has a history with the show. Four years ago, when he was still in Congress, he wrote to his supporters, urging them to vote for country singer Sara Evans, who was a constituent. The wildly popular series premieres Sept. 21.
