WOLF Lake” is the latest freshman series to undergo a pre-season shakeup behind the scenes.

The latest behind-the-scenes shakeup involves the show’s executive producer, John Leekley, getting the boot.

Leekley is being replaced by Alex Gansa ( “Maximum Bob” “X-Files”), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sources said that CBS requested some changes to ensure the “sustainability” of the series’ plot line.

The “X-Files”-ish CBS show stars Lou Diamond Phillips as an outsider who arrives in a small town just as the area is being invaded by packs of bizzarely behaving wolves.

Early versions of the pilot reportedly involved creatures displaying the werewolf-like ability to transform themselves from wolves to humans and back again.

Gansa will head up a new production team that will include Rick Kellard as executive producer, and Toni Graphia (“Roswell”) as the show’s co-executive producer.

The main character, played by Phillips, will still be an outsider, but instead of coming to town as a Federal agent, he will arrive searching for a lost love.
