IF Isaac Stern is remembered in this city for nothing else, it will be as the savior of Carnegie Hall.The late, great violinist and teacher – who 41 years ago led the drive to save Carnegie from demolition, and served as its president until his death last month – will be honored Oct. 30 with a memorial tribute at the hall he loved.

Itzhak Perlman, Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, Midori and Pinchas Zukerman will be among the musicians to perform that day, between remarks from Stern’s family and friends.
