ABC News will air the special report on which the late Peter Jennings was working when he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Jennings, who died last August, is seen on-camera conducting interviews for the special, “America’s Health Insurance Crisis,” which airs Dec. 15 (10 p.m./Ch. 7).

Charlie Gibson narrates the special, which was supposed to be narrated by Jennings until chemotherapy treatments left his voice too weak.

Jennings “planned for this broadcast to be the first of a series confronting the problems in the American healthcare system – a subject he believed was critical to all Americans,” said Tom Yellin, executive producer of “Peter Jennings Reporting.”

Jennings died Aug. 7 at the age of 67.
