2. “Look At This F—ing Hipster” book launch party

Rock American Apparel legging, a pair of aviators and maybe even suspenders (hey, why not?) to fit right in at the launch party for the book “Look At This F—ing Hipster,” based on the popular blog of the same name (latfh.com). The hipsterdom celebration —initiated by comedian Joe Mande, who founded the blog — goes down at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre Wednesday at 7 p.m.

3. hamlet at the World Financial Center

It may be too early for Shakespeare in the Park, but you can still get your dose of the English playwright with the New York Classical Theatre’s free performance of “Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.” Though the story may be familiar, the venue — the entire World Financial Center — definitely is not. From Thursday at 7 p.m. through April 18, the building will be transformed into the set for the play, bringing Elsinore Castle to downtown Manhattan. Guests are invited to bring a cushion to the free performances and grab a seat right in the middle of the action; artsworldfinancialcenter.com

4. Oscar-nominated DVDs

If while watching the Academy Awards you were asking yourself why Ben Stiller was painted blue and who Gabourey Sidibe is, clearly you have some catching up to do. Get up to speed with some of the Oscar-nominated flicks that come out on DVD Tuesday, including “Sherlock Holmes,” “The Young Victoria” and “Nine.” Check out Woody Harrelson’s and Carey Mulligan’s Oscar-worthy performances in “The Messenger” and “An Education,” respectively, and finally, albeit a little late, get in on the “Avatar” discussion.
