ABSTRACT:

Send “Masterpiece Theatre” on an acid trip and it’ll meet “Alice in Wonderland” at the well-trafficked iintersection of Hallmark Entertainment and the previously televised classics “Gulliver’s Travels,” “The Odyssey” and “Merlin.”

The prodigious Robert Halmis St. and Jr. could have asked Hunter S. Thompson to write “Watch Me” all over their new version of “Alice,” which, if it were published today, instead of 1865, might merit a review headlined “This Is Lewis Carroll’s Mind on Yo-Yo Diet Drugs and ‘Herbal’ Tea.”
