CNN star Anderson Cooper revealed yesterday he had surgery earlier this week to remove a cancerous mole near his left eye.

Cooper, 40, who once hosted an ABC reality show called “The Mole,” wrote about the procedure on his blog.

“I hadn’t planned on mentioning this, but I still have stitches and you’ll no doubt notice them tonight,” he wrote yesterday.

“[I] don’t want you to think I got into a fistfight with Charlie Rose!” he quipped, referring to the black eye and bandage Rose has been sporting on his PBS talk show after falling on Saturday.
