Apple won’t be releasing a new TV this year, as analysts had predicted, said a person familiar with the company’s plans.

In recent negotiations, the main stumbling block has been cable companies that do not want to relinquish control over programming, according to Bloomberg News.

Unlike successful agreements with music companies that created iTunes, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was never able to strike a comprehensive deal to create a similar device for TV before his death last October.
