VETERAN New York TV newsman Will Wright resigned Wednesday as executive producer of “BET Nightly News.”

BET confirmed the resignation yesterday, but declined to discuss the reasons why. Wright – who had been with BET since February 2002 – could not be reached for comment.

But sources indicated that Wright had become increasingly frustrated with BET management, who disagreed with his straight-ahead, hard-news approach to producing the only national TV newscast designed for an African-American audience.
