Big Blue’s miraculous victory over New England Sunday was the most-watched Super Bowl game in history.
Nearly 98 million people watched the Giants beat the Pats – shattering the old viewership record of 94.1 million set back in January 1996 for Super Bowl XXX (Cowboys-Steelers).
Sunday’s game was also the highest-rated Super Bowl since the St. Louis-Tennessee matchup (Super Bowl XXXIV) – and peaked with an almost unbelievable 106 million viewers during the last half-hour (9:30-10 p.m.).
Here in New York, viewership was up nearly 30 percent from last year’s Indianapolis-Chicago game.
