LEVER House co-owners John McDonald and Josh Pickard are in the final stages of construction on their Chinatown Brasserie in NoHo, where details of the 200-seat Chinese-American at 380 Lafayette St. are coming to light.

The 10,000-square-foot space, with a $6 million budget, will feature Chinese bed-inspired banquettes and bamboo accents mixed with a “worn French bistro feel,” according to next month’s W magazine.

The menu will specialize in is such classics as Peking Duck, dim sum, suckling pig and barbecue.

“It will be like a Chinese Balthazar, in my opinion,” investor Aby Rosen was quoted as saying. “You go to Balthazar because you know exactly what you’re going to get.”

* Talented raw food chef Matthew Kenney is teaming with the founders of Jivamukti Yoga to open a “yoga lifestyle”-inspired 50-seat café in Jivamukti’s new 12,000-square-foot center in Union Square. The as-yet-unnamed vegan café will feature an all-day menu of juices, smoothies and other beverages. Creations exclusive to the café will include a “BLT” with seitan bacon and baby bibb lettuce; raw lasagna with sun-dried tomato puree, mint-basil pesto and sushi rolls with jicama, mango and avocado.

* Per Se’s Jonathan Benno and Momofuku Noodle Bar’s David Chang are two local winners among the eight nationwide recipients of Food & Wine magazine’s “Best New Chef” title. The celebration was held last night at the Battery Maritime Building in New York.
