Talk about a “Bold” move!
The CBS soap “The Bold and the Beautiful” may recast the role of Ridge Forrester — rather than kill him off, the head writer said yesterday.
Star Ronn Moss’ surprise decision to quit last weekend after playing Ridge on the show for 25 years caused a huge stir in the fan-frazzled world of soaps.
But the idea of putting another actor in the role of the rich fashion tycoon is practically unheard of.
“Right now I can only tell you this: Ridge will not be dead or presumed dead,” executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell told TV Guide yesterday.
“Ridge is a pivotal part of the show and he will be back in a matter of time . . . and probably not all that much time.
“There will be a period of time without Ridge . . . But at some point it will be necessary for Ridge to return to the show. Who will be playing the role at that point remains to be seen,” he said.
“I do have people in mind in terms of a recast,” says Bell, including actors younger than Moss, now 60.
