Boosted by their star-spangled Super Bowl appearance, the Dixie Chicks returned to the top of the album sales charts this week, selling 103,940 copies of “Home,” and pushing Norah Jones, who’d been queen of the charts for four consecutive weeks, into the No. 2 slot.
A primetime appearance at the Super Bowl also helped Shania Twain, whose album “Up!” shot from No. 12 to No. 8.
Zwan, the new band from ex-Smashing Pumpkin Billy Corgan, was the only new artist in the top 10, debuting at No. 3 with “Mary Star of the Sea.”
50 Cent’s debut, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” is being released today, five days early, to help combat piracy and bootlegging. The Queens rapper is expected to claim the charts crown next week.
