Rap fans hip-hopping mad that Mos Def backed out of his scheduled gig at Celebrate Brooklyn! this weekend should be more than pleased with their consolation prize: Blackalicious, the Bay-Area twosome will bring their cerebral West-Coast sound to Prospect Park in his place.

In the tradition of Jurassic 5, The Roots, and Dilated Peoples, Blackalicious serve up an articulate, groove-heavy and determinedly unthuggish progressive style. Harlem-born poet Sekou Sundiata kicks off the evening with a spoken-word performance.

Tonight, 7:30 p.m., at the Bandshell, Ninth St. and Prospect Park West, $3 donation suggested.

Electric Six and “Danger” and “Gay Bar” and James Chance and The Fever.
