‘MAMA’S Family” called, Britney. And, uh, they want their hair rollers back.

Seriously.

Let’s forget for a moment the myriad child-safety codes being broken during Britney Spears’ latest throw-Junior-in-thecarseatand-drive baby-raising debacle. Instead, let’s ponder with great academic gravitas the terrifying cluster of trailer-chic rollers gracing the head of the former Catholic-schoolgirlskirted skank.

Because, quite frankly, who under the age of 80 goes out with curlers on?

“She’s been caught with her rollers down,” concedes celebrity stylist Edward Tricomi, who has worked with everyone from Barbra Streisand to Mick Jagger to Claudia Schiffer and who coowns Warren-Tricomi Salons in New York and Los Angeles.

“She’s in shut-off mode, and unfortunately she’s a major star.” Granted, as far as “fashion don’ts” go, child endangerment ranks pretty high up there.

Somewhere between visible panty line and streaky bronzer.

But Mrs. Federline has managed in that special barefooted way of hers to bring back a timeless classic that trumps them all.

From another decade, no less.

“It’s a funny thing because everybody in the ’60s sort of ran out with rollers on because they just didn’t care,” says Tricomi in a slightly aghast whisper. “Sort of like jogging clothes.” The truly sad part is, a few minor adjustments and the whole Bubba-friendly contraption might actually work.

“It depends,” Tricomi says. “If you left a scarf on and had big Jackie O sunglasses and a trench coat and lipstick, you have a look going.” Then he brings up Staten Island, suburban sweatpants, innate style and Madonna once telling him that there is no such thing as bad press. She actually told him that.

“In Britney’s defense,” he points out, “sometimes it’s just nice to take a break. ‘So I put on rollers. So I got fat. So I don’t have any makeup on.’ It’s very hard to keep up an image.” Which reminds us.

Mrs. Roper called. She wants her hot pants back.
