FORMER President Bill Clinton nixed a potential career as a TV talk-show host right around Labor Day.

Bubba bailed out of a potential daytime talk show deal shortly before he told CNN’s Larry King on Tuesday night that he wasn’t interested in a career change.

Clinton was reportedly asking for as much as $50 million a year to host the show which never got far enough along through production to warrant a title or format.

Clinton broke the news to syndicated powerhouse, King World, earlier this week through his advisors, an industry source said yesterday.

The former President also never actually met with executives from King World, instead the studio sent reps to pitch the show to his advisors last month.

In the end, the talks reached a stratospheric level when Clinton spoke to CBS/UPN/King World boss Les Moonves over the phone.

The two never actually met face-to-face.

The talks with King World were similar to ones held last May, when Clinton discussed a similar idea with NBC executives brought in by his TV pals, Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason.

That deal never came to pass. “I think, you know, [doing a TV show] you have to be here every day. And there’s – a lot of the work I do requires me to travel. . . and I really believe I should always spend more than half my time on public service, so I just don’t see how I can do it,” Clinton told King.

But Clinton didn’t shut the door entirely and added he might interested in doing the show in the future.

“I’m interested in a lot of different things and I like to discuss things,” he said.

“One of the reasons I like what you [Larry King] do is you have all different kinds of people on and you give them a chance to have their say and have honest discussions,” Clinton said.
