IT just goes to show you what a little midriff-baring with an albino python on MTV’s Video Music Awards can do for you.

Britney Spears has done it again, topping the album-sales charts with her new disc, “Britney.”

The latest from the pop tart – no doubt boosted by her reptile-friendly performance of the single “Slave 4 U” on the VMAs in September – sold 745,744 copies last week, according to sales-tracker SoundScan.

The figure’s decent, but it doesn’t come close to the 1.3 million copies Spears sold the week last year’s “Oops! I Did It Again” debuted.

Thanks to “Oops!,” the Pepsi pusher, who actually prefers Coke, holds the first-week sales record for a female singer.

Taking the No. 2 spot, with a set of songs recorded before Spears was born, is Pink Floyd’s greatest-hits disc, “Echoes.”

Michael Jackson, who ruled the charts last week with “Invincible,” fell to No. 3.

Enrique Iglesias’ “Escape” came in at No. 4, and new age artist Enya’s “Day Without Rain” held steady at No. 5. George Strait’s “Road Less Traveled,” at No. 9, is the only other new album in the top 10.
