Starz will not order a second season of its ambitious period drama “Camelot,” citing “significant production challenges.”
Though it started strong, delivering Starz’s largest-ever opening for a new drama last April, “Camelot” struggled to break out in a crowded cable landscape (AMC’s “The Killing,” HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and Showtime’s “The Borgias“).
“Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of ‘Camelot’ with our production partners,” Starz said in a statement.
The contemporary retelling of the Arthurian legend starred Joseph Fiennes, Jamie Campbell Bower and Eva Green.
Its 10-episode run ended on June 10.
