TIGER Woods’ record-setting Masters victory on Sunday will likely score a ratings hole-in-one on CBS.

While preliminary ratings for Woods’ thrilling victory won’t be available until later, indications are that his victory could stand to shatter past Masters numbers.

That’s based on Saturday’s third-round numbers, which were extremely impressive. According to preliminary national ratings, 22.3 million people watched all or part of Saturday’s coverage – the highest-rated third round since 1972.

Saturday was also the seventh-highest-rated third round in Masters history.

And Woods’ previous Masters victory, in 1997, averaged 15.8 million viewers on CBS – the top-rated Masters broadcast ever.

Woods, 25, became the first golfer in history to hold four major titles consecutively – the Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA.

Last year’s Masters, by comparison averaged 10.1 million viewers when Vijay Singh claimed the prize.
