CLAY AIKEN DOES BROADWAY
CLAY Aiken is heading to the Great White Way.
Aiken, the former “American Idol” runner-up, will join the cast of “Monty Python’s Spamalot” in the role originated by “Frasier” star David Hyde Pierce, according to Playbill.
Aiken, who has distanced himself from “Idol” as his “easy listening” singing career has taken off, will appear in the show as Sir Robin from Jan.18 through May 4.
Since losing to Ruben Studdard on the second season of “Idol,” Aiken has gone on to sell more than 6 million albums, written a book and appeared on “Scrubs” and “Ed” in small parts.
The Tony-Award winning “Spamalot” was inspired by the 1975 comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
