KATIE Couric’s hopes to host at least one primary debate this year are over.
The North Carolina Democratic party yesterday said it was canceling plans for a debate next Sunday because it could not get a commitment from Barack Obama.
“I’m disappointed, we all are,” CBS News exec Paul Friedman told TVNewser.com. “It’s been very frustrating.”
The last chance for a debate on CBS probably died last Wednesday about half way through the Democratic debate on ABC.
Anchors Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos hit Obama with a steady stream of questions about his controversial pastor and his patriotism, and Obama apparently did not want a repeat.
