COMIC Rob Riggle has been hired as the new correspondent on “The Daily Show,” according to reports.

Riggle – who had short stints on “Saturday Night Live” and on “The Office” – will be replacing Rob Corddry, who is getting his own show.

Riggle made the announcement on his own Web site over the weekend.

“I start this fall, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! I love ‘The Daily Show,’ and it’s a total honor to be part of it!” he wrote.

A spokesman for Comedy Central could not be reached because of the holiday.
