NOW Oprah wants Dave.

Oprah Winfrey has asked David Letterman to guest on her show, after he all-but-begged her to be a guest on his show, Letterman revealed on last night’s “Late Show.”

“What we’re hearing now, and while I’m gratified on the one hand, I’m a little concerned about this.

“We’re hearing that Oprah is actually inviting me to appear on her show,” Letterman said on last night’s “Late Show.”

“Now, it can’t possibly happen because that would screw up the Super Bowl of Love. We want to have the Super Bowl of Love. I mean we’ve had this thing printed up and ready to go. Because here’s what would happen: I would go on the Oprah show and I would break down and sob like a little girl.”

An Oprah spokeswoman confirmed the offer.

Earlier this week Letterman said he was going to enlist the help of Oprah disciple Dr. Phil McGraw to get Winfrey to be his guest.

Letterman has been responding to a Winfrey interview with a national magazine last week in which she said she would never be a guest on his show again. “I’ve done the show twice,” Winfrey said. “Both times I was sort of like the butt of his jokes.

“I felt completely uncomfortable sitting in that chair, and I vowed I would not ever put myself in that position again.”
