DC home run
The debut of Washington Nationals flame-throwing phenom Stephen Strasburg was a ratings bonanza locally and nationally.
Strasburg, who struck out 14 batters in his win against Pittsburgh Tuesday, helped MASN, the team’s cable-TV home, snare a 7.1 rating in the DC market — crushing the previous record, a 2.0 rating for a Mets/Nationals game last month.
And Strasburg’s debut, also televised on the MLB Network, averaged an 0.6 — the best overnight number in network history.
Strasburg’s second start, this Sunday against Cleveland, will air as the game of the week on TBS at 1 p.m. — bumping the Phillies/Red Sox.
