HBO is making a TV series out of the 1988 cult hit, “Dead Ringers.”

The true-story film follows a pair of sadistic, gynecologist twin brothers – one a narcissistic ladies man and the other a follower – who swap lives and lovers.

The move to create an edgy doctor show appears to be a bow to “Nip/Tuck,” the hot FX series about a pair of Miami plastic surgeons.
