COULD plus-size supermodel Emme Aronson be the next Oprah?
The five-foot 11-inch, 190 pound host of E!’s “Fashion Emergency” has signed a deal with Buena Vista Productions and ABC Daytime, to develop a new show.
Sources close to the model said that part of the negotiations focused on possibly creating a daytime talk show for her.
A Buena Vista spokeswoman confirmed the deal, but said it is much to early to say if Emme was being groomed for an Oprah-like talk show.
“It’s far to premature to assume what the project would be,” she said.
Emme was not available for comment yesterday.
“To have a successful talk show, [Emme] really doesn’t need to be the next Oprah,” said Gregg Liebman, a TV expert at J. Walter Thompson. “In today’s highly competitive environment if she could do half the ratings that Oprah does, it would be a refreshing change to what’s we’ve seen over the last few years with other new daytime shows such as “The Howie Mandel Show” and “Donny & Marie.”
Voluptuous Emme is a stark departure from the waif-like supermodels of the early 1990s.
To stay in shape the 35-year-old follows a strict physical regimen, but is probably the only supermodel to admit to having “a gut,” as she told one interviewer.
The catalog and billboard babe recently became a spokes-model for Revlon and came to fame after being chosen as the poster girl for Liz Claiborne’s plus-size Elisabeth division.
She is also the author of “True Beauty: Positive Attitudes & Practical Tips from the World’s Leading Plus Size Model.”
