DRIVING OFF WITH A FORTUNE
NOBODY can sell cars like action heroes.
That’s why Lexus custom-built a sports car for “Minority Report” – and is now running TV ads featuring scenes from the Tom Cruise actioner.
The upcoming “Men in Black II,” is already being featured in print ads for Mercedes, whose 2003 E-500 model co-stars with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in the film.
And the upcoming James Bond film “Die Another Day,” is a love-letter to the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish.
Smart move for the British car company: When Bond switched from an Aston Martin to a BMW Z3 roadster in 1996’s “Goldeneye” – BMW spent $3 million to build the prototype used in the film – the movie was estimated to have sold $240 million worth of cars in advance sales alone.
