IS it dancing that leads to love – or love that leads to dancing?

It doesn’t matter to two professional hoofers from “Dancing With the Stars” – Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – who got engaged on New Year’s Eve, according to E! News.

The two have been working together on the “DWTS” tour and now, it seems, are ready for the hot-to-fox trot.

Just a short while ago, Karina, 30, was dating her star partner from 2006, Mario Lopez. But the couple broke up last summer after a two-year fling.

Maksim, 28-whose smoldering good looks made him a big female fan favorite – came back to the show last season after taking a year off.

He reportedly popped the question just before midnight last Thursday.

No date set yet for the nuptials.
