LOS ANGELES — Eddie Cibrian is divorcing his wife of nearly eight years.

Court records show the 36-year-old actor, who has appeared on TV shows such as “Ugly Betty” and “The Starter Wife,” filed for divorce on Monday. The court papers were filed in Los Angeles.

Cibrian and his wife, Brandi, were married in 2001. They have two sons, ages 6 and 2.

The divorce petition cites “irreconcilable differences.”

Tabloid reports have linked Cibrian with LeAnn Rimes, his co-star in the TV movie “Northern Lights.”

The filing doesn’t indicate whether Brandi Cibrian has an attorney, and a phone listing could not be located.
