A weekend of Fantasia paid off for Lifetime Television.

The cable channel’s original movie, “The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life is Not a Fairy Tale” – starring the “American Idol” winner as herself – attracted 6.6 million viewers in its premiere last Saturday night, according to Lifetime.

The ratings were high enough to make “Fantasia” the second highest-rated made-for-TV movie in Lifetime’s history after “Almost Golden,” the 1995 biographical movie about Jessica Savitch that starred Sela Ward.

“Golden” drew more than 7 million viewers.

But the “Fantasia” ratings story doesn’t stop there. In a first for Lifetime, the network aired the movie two additional times, on Sunday and Monday nights. Sunday’s airing attracted more than 5 million viewers, while Monday’s airing – in the time slot where Lifetime traditionally airs its original movies – brought in another 2.7 million viewers.
