STYLE maven Steven “Cojo” Cojocaru says he was “dumped” from the “Today” show because he agreed to go on “Oprah” to talk about his kidney transplant.

That appearance airs tomorrow on “Oprah” (4 p.m./Ch. 7).

“It was three weeks after my surgery . . . I wasn’t just fired, I was dumped,” Cojocaru tells Oprah Winfrey. “I was on so many drugs, I thought it was a bad dream.

“I was devastated.”

Cojocaru, fighting polycystic kidney disease, had a kidney transplant last January. At the time, he was being phased out from his four-year gig at “Today” after signing a deal with rival Paramount in 2003.

Cojocaru tells Winfrey that he always intended to discuss the transplant on the “Today” show and “Entertainment Tonight” (his Paramount employer) – but that the fact that he even agreed to do “Oprah” at all resulted in his firing.

He also says he went to “Oprah” because he wants to spread the word about organ donorship, and the show can devote a full hour – as opposed to a shorter segment on “Today.”

A “Today” show spokeswoman had no comment.
