Felicity Huffman is returning to ABC.

The former co-star of “Desperate Housewives,” which ended its run in May 2012, has signed on to a lead role in “American Crime,” written and executive-produced by John Ridley (“12 Years A Slave”).

The drama will center around the racially motivated murder of a war vet and the proceeding trial. Huffman will play Barb Skokie, the mother of the murdered vet, who’s determined to seek justice for her slain son. Timothy Hutton will play her errant ex-husband.

Huffman played Lynette Scavo on “Housewives” for the show’s entire eight-season run.
