PETER Scarlet, who ran San Francisco’s prestigious film festival from 1983 to 2001, has been named executive director of the fledgling Tribeca Film Festival.

The second edition of the downtown shindig will unreel May 6-11 and is expected to feature a wider array of international films than last year’s event, which concentrated on major studio flicks.

As head of the Frisco fest, Scarlet – a New York City native – earned a reputation for adventurous programming.
