James Franco is heading back to Port Charles, again.
The recently announced Oscars co-host — Anne Hathaway will join him onstage — has signed on to appear in two more episodes of the ABC soap opera “General Hospital” next year.
In the episodes airing Feb. 25 and Feb. 28, bookending the Feb. 27 Oscars broadcast, Franco will return in the role of a serial killer artist, also named Franco, a character he first inhabited in 2009 during a 23-episode run, shot during a scant three days. (He returned for additional episodes this past summer.)
Now, Franco — the character — is still obsessed with mob hitman Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and pops up to “remind Jason and the audience that he’s still out there. We just haven’t seen or heard from him because he’s been terribly busy,” “GH” executive producer Jill Farren Phelps told TV Guide.
Franco’s two-part appearance will pave the way for a lengthier story arc that Franco anticipates filming, which will air later next year.
