THURSDAY’S finale of “Frasier” snared 25 million viewers – less than half the viewers who tuned into the May 6 finale of NBC stablemate “Friends” (52.3 million).

The “Frasier” number is impressive, though, considering roughly 13 million viewers tuned into the series’ penultimate episode – meaning it nearly doubled its audience for the finale.

In Thursday’s finale, Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) departed Seattle for San Francisco, Niles and Daphne (David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves) had their baby and Martin and Ronnie (John Mahoney, Wendie Malick) tied the knot.

Grammer hasn’t completely written off the idea of reprising the Frasier character in yet another series. If he does, it will be Frasier’s third incarnation – unprecedented in the annals of TV history.

In other Thursday-night ratings news, the second “Survivor: All-Stars” finale, in which Rupert Boneham was awarded $1 million, averaged a lusty 19.1 million viewers from 8 to 9 p.m.
