MOVE over Robin, Boo Boo and Garfunkel – there’s a new Sidekick in town. T-Mobile’s new LX hits stores today.

Current customers can get the new phone – $300 with a two-year contract – exclusively at T-Mobile’s Times Square store (730 Seventh Ave.; [212] 247-7682) today. It launches nationwide next Wednesday.

The LX is sleeker, lighter and prettier than the Sidekick 3. A new LCD screen, picture-messaging capability and improved sound quality are worth the upgrade.

But Sidekick savants will notice the camera is still shoddy (1.3 megapixels compared to the BlackBerry Curve’s 2), and the 6 MB inbox is smaller than it should be. A fifth version of the phone – the Sidekick Slide – will be out later this fall.
