You’d think Guy Ritchie’s first film to hit American theaters in five years would make a splash. But “Revolver,” a flashy, gunplay-filled revenge epic set in the grimy British underworld, opens Friday and it’s barely managed a ripple. Maybe it’s because the movie atom-bombed in the UK two years ago. The Daily Mirror wrote that the movie was “so incredibly, absurdly, breathtakingly awful, I wanted to buy a revolver so I could shoot the projectionist before turning the gun on myself.” Ritchie reportedly took the piling on to heart and recut the movie before its release here.
