HOLLYWOOD will soon be free of the sound of Katherine Heigl complaining about her indentured servitude on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The attractive-yet-abrasive actress is taking a leave of absence from the hit show this November.

Heigl, 30, who plays cancer survivor Izzie Stevens, is bowing out — temporarily — to do a theatrical film for Greg Berlanti, the brains behind “Brothers & Sisters” and other series.

The Berlanti film is called “Life As We Know It,” and like other Heigl films, it’s a romantic comedy. She will be off the show for five weeks.

Producers have come up with a convincing reason for Izzie to disappear from Seattle Grace. The hospital merges with another, Mercy West, and Izzie is downsized.

“Grey’s Anatomy” has proven that it can absorb a steady spate of departures. Heigl’s co-star and friend T.R. Knight quit the show when his camera time dwindled.

Show star Ellen Pompeo will be taking maternity leave this season.

There will be new cast members joining the show, which returns with a two-hour episode Sept. 24.
