More on the kiss of the century: Chris Rock confessed that he would rather kiss Christina Aguilera than Britney. “She hot,” he said. Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon wishes Madonna were “snogging him.” And Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro just wants to collaborate with Madonna because he’s worked with everybody else.
You’re so vain: After the VMAs, Justin Timberlake performed at Roseland Ballroom, with the Black Eyed Peas and Pharrell Williams. Following his Britney breakup-inspired “Cry Me A River,” Timbo sang “I bet you think this song is about you,” then added smugly, “and it is.”
Potty-mouth backstage: When asked about Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake, Jack Black, fresh from his Michael Jackson-inspired stunt at the VMAs, asked, “Are they dating? Yeah, I’d want the video, if I could see them doing it.” He’d also volunteer for a “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” makeover, but, he said, “I think I’m hopeless.”
Shout outs: Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” only won for cinematography, but he got props: Snoop Dogg rooted for him to win Video of the Year; Coldplay’s Chris Martin dedicated a song to him; and Chris Rock said of the video, “it has a grittiness and realness you don’t see too much.”
