‘THE Simpsons‘ ” latest “Treehouse of Hor ror” was anything but a horror show for Fox.

The annual Halloween-themed episode scored the show’s best ratings in five years and, with an average of 12.5 million viewers, was among the most-watched programs Sunday night.

The animated show, featured a people-gobbling Jack-O-Lantern (that was eventually vanquished by a giant Thanksgiving Turkey), rips on the “Transformers” and “Mad Men” and opened with Homer Simpson getting killed by a voting machine when he tries to vote for Barack Obama.

“The Simpsons” slaughtered most of the competition including, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “The Unit” and the “Amazing Race.”

Only “Desperate Housewives,” (15.8 million) and NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” telecast (14.2 million) snared better ratings.
