YOU’D better put on those shades, Class of 2008.

The future is looking bright for jobs and starting salaries this year, according to an annual survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Of the 1,200 employer members who responded to this year’s survey, 250 reported that they plan to hire about 8 percent more graduates this year.

The sectors that didn’t follow suit included construction and finance.

Of those opening their doors, the Government reported an increase of about 33 percent new hires. Utilities companies plan to increase their talent pools by 50 percent and business services are forecasting a 9 percent hike.

As for starting salary offers, across the board of academic majors, the NACE survey notes a 5 percent increase for each one.
