‘AMERICAN Idol” producers are investigating the claim that judge Paula Abdul may have had a sexual affair with one of the show’s contestants, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“Idol” officials declined comment yesterday on the report.

But Abdul flatly denied former contestant Corey Clark’s claim they’d had a backstage affair.

“Mr. Clark is an admitted liar and opportunist who engages in unlawful activities. He is communicating lies about Paula Abdul in order to generate interest in a book deal,” Abdul’s spokeswoman said in a prepared statement.
